The Identify button allows you to obtain
additional information about any feature within the map display area.
- To utilize this button you must first make
active the layer that contains the feature you want to identify. This can
be accomplished by clicking on the legend/layer list button until the layer list is displayed. (For example, if you want
to identify a street segment, you need to make the Mesquite Streets layer
active).
- Next, click on the Identify button, and
then within the map display area click on the active feature.
- After you have executed the command a
table will appear located near the bottom of the web page called the text
display area with information about that particular feature. At this time
you may select a specific record by moving the mouse cursor over the
number which is located under the field/column called Rec. You know
you are in the correct location because you will see the mouse cursor turn
into a pointing hand. When the record(s) is/are selected the web page will
zoom in and highlight the corresponding feature in red. The text
display area also shows related database information.
- You can drag and drop the results of the
query into any text processing application, such as Microsoft Word or
Excel. With the left mouse button depressed, drag the cursor across the
columns to highlight the column titles as well as the records. When the
records you want are selected, simultaneously press <Ctrl + C> to
copy, then open Microsoft Word or Excel and then simultaneously press
<Ctrl + V> to paste. The result will be a text or table you may edit
and sort.
